06.Manolete: The Life and Death of a Bull Publication Design Winter 2026Publication
8 x 8in
80 lb. Silk Manolete reconfigures the life and death of Spain’s most famous matador through the structure of a bullfight. The book unfolds through the ritual phases of the corrida, tracing Manolete’s biography toward the death of the bull, which also marks his own. This parallel positions the matador and the animal within the same system of public violence, where endurance, fame, and mortality are inseparable. The project interrogates bullfighting as a cultural performance that turns bodies into symbols and risk into spectacle, drawing attention to the ethical and political tensions embedded in the tradition.
